Afro-Latin Fusion

This workshop explores the principles of Afro-Latin dances. Students will develop musicality and learn about the cultural roots of dance forms from the Caribbean and Latin America. Through the lens of the diaspora, we will look at social dance forms to see how the African diaspora in Latin America made way for some of the most popular social and street dances around the world. Students will learn foundational techniques to build skills around polyrhythm, footwork, body isolations, partner work, and floorwork and develop their individualism through freestyle.
