Sam Simonich
Teaching Artist
She/Her
Sam Simonich is an artist, educator, and gardener born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She holds a BFA in Modern Dance and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah, a combination that reflects her jack-of-all trades nature and passion for connecting the worlds of science and art. She has been teaching dance to all ages for a decade, specializing in modern, contemporary floorwork and tap. After graduating from the University of Utah, Sam moved to Montana and performed with Raison D’Être Dance Project (RDE) and 406-Cirque while building RDE’s adult community dance program.
Before arriving in the Twin Cities, Sam traveled to Europe for the B12 dance festival in Berlin, Germany, performing in a work by Laja Field and taking classes from Leila Macmillan (flying-low and shadow dancing) and Tina Afiyan Breiova (Ferus Animi // Terra Nova).
Now in Minnesota, Sam is expanding her practice of teaching to include fiber arts with the Weavers Guild of Minnesota. Outside of the fiber/dance studio, she works for an organization that helps nonprofits find and manage grant funding. She is excited to share her love of movement and cross-disciplinary approach with Young Dance!
