All Abilities Dancing 1

All Abilities Dancing classes are a supportive, community-minded environment for youth living with and without disabilities to express themselves through movement. This class will focus on positive body awareness, creativity, teamwork, motor coordination, and personal expression. Ages 7–11

Breaking 2

For ages 10-18. Dancers ages 10-13 with at least two years of Breaking experience may register for Breaking 2. Dancers ages 14-18 may register with no prior Breaking experience. All Abilities Dancing classes are a supportive, community-minded environment for youth living with and without disabilities to express themselves through movement. Participants develop skills of improvisation, partnering, and choreography with an emphasis on communication, collaboration, and performance. Ages 11+

Open Studio Choreography

This open studio time is for dancers looking for extra space to work on their own project, whether for a class or for fun. Free for dancers already enrolled this session; $15 for dancers not currently enrolled.If currently enrolled, contact info@youngdance.org to reserve studio time.

Afro Modern

Based on rhythms from Africa and the diaspora, Afro-Modern Dance is a contemporary class where dancers explore full-body expression rooted in West African, Caribbean, and American dance traditions. Students will develop technique through a focus on wellness, community, improvisation, and fluidity across movement styles. Ages 10–18

Creative Movement 2

In Creative Movement 2, children learn the structure of a dance class and terminology through improvisation and games. Young dancers are challenged with more complex routines exploring the dance concepts of Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy. Ages 5–7

Creative Movement 1

Creative Movement classes offer a fun environment for children to play, explore, improvise, and express themselves through movement. Dancers develop gross and fine motor skills, as well as coordination, rhythm, teamwork, and listening skills. Ages 3–5

Musical Theater

In Musical Theater, dancers will draw from a breadth of styles to bring some of their favorite songs and stories to life. Young dancers will learn technique, develop improvisation skills, and build their own choreography in a fun, thoughtful, and supportive environment. Ages 8–14

Creative Movement 3

Creative Movement 3 is great for dancers who may not be interested in a more formal technique class. Dancers further their understanding and exploration of the Elements of Dance (Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy) through activities emphasizing improvisation, teamwork, partnering, and creativity.
