Mayhugh Fox

Mayhugh Fox is a movement artist, choreographer, and teacher who constantly challenges the status quo through her work. She is an Ohio native and recently relocated to Minneapolis. Since moving, Mayhugh was selected as a choreographic fellow through Lyric Arts for The Music Man. She teaches Heels, Jazz, and Contemporary to adults at Klass MPLS and Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip-hop at various studios and community centers throughout the Twin Cities.
Through Young Dance, Mayhugh was trained in teaching strategies for neurodivergent students. While in Ohio, Mayhugh was a dancer with Dancing Wheels Company, performing nationally and internationally. Through Dancing Wheels, Mayhugh received her certification in teaching Physically Integrated Dance.
She has performed legacy works like Dance Energies by May O’Donnell, Polaris by Paul Taylor, and Bolero by Heinz Poll and worked with many renowned artists like Stefanie Batten Bland, Mary-Verdi Fletcher, Lisa Viola, Rina Badash, Tiffany Mills, Micaela Taylor, Mark Tomasic, and Rami Bear. Mayhugh had the opportunity to study under the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and collaborated with M.A.S.H. Dance House Jerusalem.
In addition to performance, Mayhugh has a deep passion for choreography. Mayhugh wants her choreography to spark important conversations in audiences in hopes to someday have a brighter future based on equity. Her work has been performed at multiple festivals and in the Black Box series. She has received awards, including Best in the Show, Best Choreographer, and Dance Metamorphosis. In May 2023, she graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance with a focus on Choreography. She frequently choreographs and performs for Women’s March rallies, Pride events, and protests. She heavily encourages the intersection of dance and advocacy. Mayhugh believes that every dancer in the space should feel seen, heard, and valued and can’t wait for what’s next!
