Eva Reed
2020-21 Guest Artist
Eva Reed is 19 years old and has been a part of Young Dance since the age of seven. She followed in her brother’s footsteps, who was also a member of Young Dance. She began in the All Abilities Dancing Two class, then joined the Young Dance Company at 11 years old and remained in the company until she graduated at 18. Her first piece at Young Dance was titled “In My Body Are These Islands.” In the 9th grade, she choreographed a piece with Aubrey Donish and Eliana Skulbeck, called “Holding Space.” In her final year at Young Dance, Eva collaborated with Piper Rolfes to create a piece titled “Proximity” which experimented with all of the functions on her wheelchair, as well as being out of the wheelchair. In 2019, “Proximity” was selected as one of 14 pieces to be performed at the Walker Art Center Choregrapher’s Evening. Choreographer’s Evening was Eva’s first experience with professional dance outside of Young Dance. Throughout her time at Young Dance, Eva was able to work with Joe Chvala, Megan Flood, and Kealoha Ferreira.
