Mind:Body—Young Dance Performing Company

(ASL Interpretation Provided)

May 18 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Graphic for dance performance by YOUNG DANCE. Text includes Mind:Body and the dates and times of the shows.

In Mind:Body, guest Artists Emily Gastineau, Gabriel Rodreick, and Meridian Movement Collective (Colin Edwards, Cecil Neal, and Alex Arce) created original pieces with the Young Dance Performing Company to investigate how we can be both thinking and feeling movers.

When we think of our mind-body connection, we often think about mindfulness, attunement, and harmony. While aspirational, those can be challenging, requiring much practice and patience. In addition, they can look and feel different for every individual. So, what is the mind-body connection?

The Young Dance company is a group of passionate dancers committed to exploring themselves and their world through dance. Dancers ages 7–18 work with professional artists to investigate and collaborate on choreography related to the year’s theme and present their work in a high-quality, innovative performance.

Dancers from Young Dance’s All Abilities Dancing 2, Breaking 2, Hip Hop 2, Modern 4, and Choreography dancers Lainey L. and Hazel H. will also present work on this program.
